What to Expect in a Anoka County Case

Every case is different. Still, most family cases follow the same basic steps:

  • First court date. Most cases start with an Initial Case Management Conference (ICMC). The judge reviews the issues and sets a plan.
  • Trying to settle. The court usually expects you to try mediation or early neutral evaluation first. Cases involving domestic abuse are an exception.
  • Parent education. Parents are usually ordered to take an approved parent education class.
  • Settlement or trial. Most cases settle. If yours does not, a judge decides at trial.
